Repair: iPhone 8 Plus can't boot after water damage

The customer said that his iPhone 8P accidentally fell into the water last night, and then picked up the iPhone can not boot. The customer didn't know how to fix it, so he sent the iPhone to us.

After receiving the iPhone, we found that there was a lot of water entering the iPhone. Remove the iPhone motherboard and clean it up. Do not power it after drying. We need to observe which location has more water, so we can avoid burning other circuit components due to the power supply.

After checking, we found the area that was seriously damaged by water, there are 6 pieces capacitors on the left corner are corroded, directly remove it by the brush. Because they don’t affect the boot of the iPhone, so we don't need to deal with them now.

Putting the iPhone under the trinocular microscope, we found that the two capacitors were also burned, and after testing, they were all short-circuited. Open ZXW Dongle to view the iPhone schematic. We know that the C4910 causes the iPhone ringtone to amplify the U4900, while the C3310 leads to the iPhone charging tube U3300. Check these 2 ICs, there is no water trace, it may be that these 2 ICs are damaged.

Take these capacitors out and test the iPhone motherboard, the iPhone layer board doesn't short, re-fill these capacitors, and then test it with DC power supply, the boot current tested is normal. After dry out the iPhone display screen, connect it to the iPhone, and then power on iPhone, the iPhone screen can be lit, but it turns darkness gradually.

Replace it with the new iPhone display, then test again, now the iPhone screen is working properly, and all tests are functioning properly.
